When a restaurant has made the same location home for 32 years, it earns the right to be called an institution. That’s the case for Chez Alexandre, a classic Parisian Brasserie located in the heart of Montréal.
Iconic Chez Alexandre serves up classic French cuisine in a stylish setting. Politicians and French celebrities are some of its biggest fans, making it a must-stop whenever they’re in town. When it comes to keeping its reputation red-hot, Chez Alexandre hits all the right notes. The kitchen is open almost every night until 2am (it closes at 1am on Sunday). It boasts a lovely patio, as well as an inviting cigar lounge for those wishing to unwind with a Cuban. And let’s not forget the impressive wine card! According to Daniel, one of the associates, they sell a few bottles of the coveted Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2004 every week. That’s a $755 bottle of wine, people! But don’t worry, they have plenty of tasty wines for every budget.

PS: Don’t leave without trying the dark chocolate fondant. I can’t get enough of this popular dessert and this is certainly one of Montréal’s best.

The food culture in Montréal is really unique. You can eat well at reasonable prices anywhere in town. Good food is really accessible here, and the quality of our local produce is outstanding. We’ve got that great French cooking heritage, but we put a laid-back spin on it. Plus, it’s about knowing that even if it’s minus 30 degrees outside, you can step out to your favourite local bistro and it will be full of people.
