  • JOE BEEF RESTAURANT: OFF THE BEATEN PATH

    Posted by

The best restaurants aren’t always located in the trendiest neighborhoods. When it comes to location, some restaurant owners prefer to work off the beaten path. Joe Beef is living proof that address doesn’t always matter.

Carolyne Weldon and Victoria Revay, bloggers for the Canadian Tourism Commission, were in town recently and wanted meet up over dinner. Inspired to give them a taste of where locals go for good grub on a Saturday night, I suggested we head to Joe Beef in Montréal’s eclectic Little Burgundy neighborhood for some tasty local flavors.

(Victoria Revay, Carolyne Weldon and Brendan Murphy)

This 28-seat restaurant has a broad menu offering fresh specials every day. We shared a heavenly Kamouraska lamb shoulder, served with gorgeous creamy polenta – cue the “oohs” and “ahhs!” The parfait au foie gras starter we kicked things off with was quite delicious, too.

Of course, reservations are mandatory at a hotspot like Joe Beef. My tip: ask for a table on the terrace. You’ll enjoy watching the cooks pick fresh veggies from the restaurant garden!

Thanks to Sid Lee for the great Joe Beef video.
