  • AVENUE MONT ROYAL :::: A PHOTO TOUR

    Posted by

Many years ago, when I first visited Montréal, I stumbled out of Mont Royal metro station and found paradise – a neighbourhood called “The Plateau.” I said to myself, “Wouldn’t it be amazing to live here?”

    And now I do.

Join me on a photo tour…

The streets are lined with maple trees, and the houses are colourful, with spiral staircases creating a curvaceous romanticism. The Plateau is consistently noted as one of the hippest neighbourhoods in North America, and has the highest concentration of artists in Canada. A certain laissez-faire attitude prevails, which makes wandering down the street hand-in-hand with your sweetheart feel completely natural.

I’d like to share my ‘hood with you.

Join me on a photo tour of the boutiques and restos of Avenue Mont Royal, the heart of The Plateau…

Click here to go to my Flickr Photo Set… where you can see all the shots and read my witty (cheesy) captions.

The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	There's something magical about a city that lives below a mountain and it's difficult to express why that is...there's something about Mont Royal and how it watches over Montreal as if its duty is to protect the city day and night. It's also so profound how you can be entrenched in cosmopolitan life and minutes later be surrounded by nature...and those clouds; there's no clouds like the ones over Montreal--surreal and oh so beautiful. The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal.
