  • MONTREAL LOUNGE: GOTHA SALON BAR

    Posted by

Gotha Salon Bar (or just “Gotha” as Montrealer’s call it) is one of my favourite lounges in the Gay Village. It’s unpretentious without being skuzzy, and classy without being cher (expensive).

I’ll tell you where it is… and what you should be drinking.

Gotha features a mixed clientele: gay/straight, young/old, English/French, locals/visitors. I like this mix, but it’s the ambience that really does it for me. With warm orange chairs and ever-evolving artistic installations, the décor is stimulating without assaulting the eyes. And with our frigid winters, Gotha keeps us warm with a glowing fireplace. In the summer, there’s always the terrasse (patio) to enjoy the warm evening.

Finally, if you are a pianist, you might love the old upright piano. Ask the bartender to turn the music down and play a tune.

You’ll have us locals in the palm of your hand.

    The Drink: White Cranberry Martini
The Spot: 1641 Amherst Street, Gay Village
The Hours: Monday to Sunday, 4pm to 3am
The Beats: Lounge, Electro, Jazz, Retro

Insider Tip: After your lovely BYOW dinner in the Gay Village, head to Gotha for a 10pm martini. Then at midnight, head south to Parking or another Montreal gay club to get your sexy on!

The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	I took this photo approximately 45 minutes before our Toronto bound VIA train was to set to leave. That morning we packed our bags and sought out crepes for breakfast before heading to the station. I cried while packing because I didn't want to leave - the four days we had spent in the city had been perfect. We decided to take one last stroll while waiting for our train. We walked out to the street only to discover it was closed off for the Pride Parade! I took a few minutes to snap some shots of everyone waiting for the parade to begin.
