  • BRINGING BACK THE HAT

    Posted by

As you may know, travelling involves loads of walking under the sun — which means you need a hat. Hats are the ideal summer trend to pack with you on vacation. Cool and useful. The fanny pack and white socks on the other hand, stay at home.
Not only will the perfect chapeau protect you from the sun, but it is also a great accessory to add some serious oomph to your outfit and give you the perfect touch of sophistication and personality needed during your trip. Personally, my collection of hats have taken me from bad hair day to cuteness galore.
But what if your wardrobe is lacking in fabulous headwear? Fear not, Montreal has some great hat shopping destinations. Let me show you where to find the best hats in Montreal!
OPHELIE HATS are pretty much the ultimate mandatory headgear and the most feminine ornaments you will find in Montreal. Created by Quebec designer Corine A. Serruya, these hats are sure to turn every head on the block. Elegant, modern and vintage all at the same time, Surraya’s COLLECTIONS have invaded Europe and North America, including Urban Outfitters in the US and Topshop in London. Yes. We are proud. In Montreal, you will find her hats at SIMONS, OGILVY, CHAPEAU FOLIE and ESPACE PÉPIN, to name just a few.
HENRI HENRI is probably one of the oldest hat stores in Montreal. Over 75 years, this little boutique has seen the rise, the fall and the rebirth of hats of all kinds. Stepping into Henri Henri feels like a rendez-vous with your old imaginary French-Canadian grand-father, the one with the moustache and the suit, who always carried his hat with attitude and placed it on his heart when the national anthem played at hockey games. Initially a store for men only, Henri Henri now has hats for women and teenagers while remaining one of the most authentic hat stores of Montreal. Old is New. Henri Henri is a must stop for your hat fashion.
OLD GOLD is, as you know, one of my favourite Montreal boutiques, especially when it comes to accessories. Some of my greatest hats – you might have spotted me more than once rocking THIS BRIXTON HAT – are straight out of owner Jonah Leslie’s treasure box.  Amongst the goodies are some pretty wicked PEGLEG hats that will make that old outfit brand new again.
And finally, if you’ve spotted some great headwear in Montreal, I invite you to drop a comment and let me know where!

The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	I took this photo approximately 45 minutes before our Toronto bound VIA train was to set to leave. That morning we packed our bags and sought out crepes for breakfast before heading to the station. I cried while packing because I didn't want to leave - the four days we had spent in the city had been perfect. We decided to take one last stroll while waiting for our train. We walked out to the street only to discover it was closed off for the Pride Parade! I took a few minutes to snap some shots of everyone waiting for the parade to begin. It's also so profound how you can be entrenched in cosmopolitan life and minutes later be surrounded by nature...and those clouds; there's no clouds like the ones over Montreal--surreal and oh so beautiful.
