  • ROUGE NAIL BAR: PEDICURES AND CHAMPAGNE

    Posted by

Ladies, I’m in heaven! Let me introduce Rouge Nail Bar, the ultimate Montreal girl salon where you can get a manicure and pedicure whilst drinking champagne and watching episodes of Sex and the City! That’s right, they thought of everything!
It’s clean, it’s friendly, it’s modern, it’s green, it’s open late, it’s affordable, it’s in Montreal’s cool Plateau area, it has an outdoor little patio with comfy couches right on the sidewalk and it’s incredibly fun. Start packing girls, we have a 10/10!
The salon is the love child of Rory Richards, a Vancouver PR queen with a great idea, a free-spirit, and an unconditional love for Leonard Cohen. When she visited Montreal last year for the Homage to Leonard Cohen at the Jazz Festival, it sealed the deal.
“One hundred thousand people out to celebrate an icon, his lyrics rolling up the sides of buildings, a lone trumpet player on a roof top, people dancing in the streets… I had never seen anything like it. I thought, I don’t speak a word of French, but these are my people!”
A few months later, Rory had packed her bags for Montreal and Rouge Nail Bar was born. Faithful to her admiration for Cohen, the nail bar is decorated with ORIGINAL ART PIECES of the Montreal singer-songwriter, musician, poet, novelist and artist.
But décor aside, the best part of Rouge Nail Bar is the fact that they’ve made the experience so much fun! First off, there are no nasty acrylic fumes (they just don’t do acrylic). And second, there are plenty of things to distract you while your nails are drying.
Now, normally this is the part I dread the most about doing my nails. Sitting in my chair, restless, I check on my fingers and toes every 30 seconds, I struggle to flip the pages of my magazine, and I stare down the manicurist, who from the look in my eyes knows exactly what I’m thinking.
“Not dry. Not dry. Don’t touch, 10 minutes.”
With stacks of Sex and the City episodes and glasses of champagne, my impatient nail drying misery is over. I stayed at Rouge Nail Bar for nearly two hours, sampling all the OPI NAIL POLISHES, trying every cream, smelling every essential oil, and keeping myself from buying all the adorable goodies, that interestingly make this nail salon the perfect gift store!
    CHECK OUT THE PHOTO ALBUM!
Cards, lamps, candles, recycled notepads and books, decorative objects and wait, my favourite… the BUDDHA BOARD, which is based on the Zen concept of living in the moment. With a brush that you dip in water, you can draw or write on the board and it disappears a few minutes later. It’s perfect for setting out on the coffee table next time you invite the ladies over for dinner and wine.
Everything in the store revolves around that Zen and West Coast philosophy, plus nothing in the nail bar is over $40!
Added bonus: You can reserve the nail bar for your very own private girl’s night out, baby shower or bridal party. Get your nails done, order sushi, and even bring your own ipod or DVDs! The nail bar will provide you with food, drinks, music – you name it! GENIUS!
