  • THE MMFA: NOT JUST ANOTHER MUSEUM!

    Posted by

Think museums are boring? Think again! A few weeks ago, I attended a remarkable event – the annual ball of the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts – to give you a real example of how creative, innovative and unique this Montréal institution is.

Since the theme for this year’s party was Geisha, I was really excited to have a glamorous reason to get all dressed up. Check out the video of this incredible event!

Hot right? Now although this notable event comes only once a year, the imaginative spirit of the party is alive year-round at the MMFA. Out goes boring, in comes inspiring. With exhibitions such as Sacred Africa and Imagine: The Peace Ballad of John and Yoko (which really is a must-see, take my word for it), the Museum succeeds in appealing to modern women who like their art thought-provoking yet accessible and entertaining. Plus, did I mention that it’s free?

And because I know (and more importantly, the museum knows) that women like to keep their activities balanced and varied, the MMFA offers up a serving of culture with a healthy side dish of . . . shopping opportunities. Bet you weren’t expecting that, were you? Check in with me next week when I’ll share my favourite finds from the museum’s M Boutique, including the great pillows I just bought there!

The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	This is the view from our hotel room when my cousins and I spent the weekend in Montreal last July. The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal.
