  • MONTREAL NIGHTLIFE: BALDWIN BARMACIE

    Posted by

For the fourth installment in the Montreal Nightlife video series, I visited Baldwin Barmacie, a sleek and sophisticated bar/nightclub/lounge on Laurier, near Avenue du Parc. I spoke to Baldwin’s Alex Baldwin about designing a place reminiscent of his own living room…

Baldwin Barmacie is a great spot in the Mile End neighbourhood of Montreal that manages to feel like a cross between a pharmacy and bar (hence the name “barmacie”)…if it was located smack dap in the middle of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s a perfect place for an after-work drink during the week or as part of a big night out on the town. While the décor is one of its obvious selling points, it’s a place that takes the business of making drinks very seriously. Their mojitos with champagne are pretty legendary, but I strongly suggest you try their Bourbon Punch, the perfect refreshment for a warm summer night…

The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	Parlovr at Notman House The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	I took this photo approximately 45 minutes before our Toronto bound VIA train was to set to leave. That morning we packed our bags and sought out crepes for breakfast before heading to the station. I cried while packing because I didn't want to leave - the four days we had spent in the city had been perfect. We decided to take one last stroll while waiting for our train. We walked out to the street only to discover it was closed off for the Pride Parade! I took a few minutes to snap some shots of everyone waiting for the parade to begin. The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	This is the view from our hotel room when my cousins and I spent the weekend in Montreal last July. The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal. The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	This photo I took represents the essence of Montreal. Taking the most beautiful place in Montreal, the Old Port, and using it as a backdrop to Montreal's other beautiful feature: the people!
