"I love you. What’s wrong with that?”

– Max (the lead character in BENT)

Written in 1979 by Sherman Miller, BENT is the groundbreaking story of acceptance, tolerance and love in the wrong time and the wrong place -- Nazi Germany. The play starred international queer icon Ian McKellen in its original 1979 West-End production.

Over the years, many notable actors have tackled the role of “Max” (the lead), such as Richard Gere, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Cumming and even Clive Owen in the 1998 film adaptation. BENT is a critically acclaimed, historic theatrical piece that each queer person absolutely MUST see performed live at least once in his/her life.

And if you time it right, it would make a great night of queer theatre for your Montreal weekend getaway… just sayin’.

Says Carolyn Fe (artistic director), “For me, this play goes beyond the pink triangle; it goes all the way to accepting and believing in oneself regardless of how difficult the environment or the times may be.”

And that is beautifully stated.
