Recently I was surfing the World Wide Web when I stumbled across an article on afterelton.com that listed the 50 Best Gay Movies. In the post, they pose the question, “Why aren’t there more good gay movies?”

It’s true. There is a ton of cinematic queer crap out there.

But thankfully the folks at Image+Nation screen through the mediocre to present the best of LGBT film every autumn in Montreal.

Image+Nation, pronounced “imagination” (but with a sultry French accent), has been offering Montreal the best of queer cinema for the past two decades. This year’s festival runs October 22 – 31, and will feature over 100 gay and lesbian films (long and short) to nourish the creative queer mind.

Here’s a teaser of 4 films that will be screening at Image+Nation:

(Click on titles to obtain more information and to watch trailers.)

Hollywood, je t'aime (Jason Bushman, USA) - After a spat with his boyfriend, Jerome escapes a wintery Paris in search of his California dreams, finding romance and friendship with an eclectic crowd that calls Hollywood home.

I Can't Think Straight (Shamim Sarif, Britain) - From the director of The World Unseen comes "just another British, Indian, Muslim, Arab, Christian, lesbian Romantic Comedy."

Give Me Your Hand (Pascal-Alex Vincent, France) - Exploring the conflict and camaraderie between twin brothers, this debut feature is an elliptical, sexy and beautifully shot film.

Drool (Nancy Kissam, USA) - As the director describes it, "Drool is like Thelma & Louise with two kids in the backseat and a dead body in the trunk."
