September 20, 2010 – The nominations are in, and Montréal, for the second consecutive year, has made it to the last stage of competition in the Best Global Destination category at the 2010 TripOut Gay Travel Awards, a showcase of the places in which LGBT communities enjoy spending their leisure time and pink currency.
TripOut Gay Travel, a website that provides online gay and lesbian travel guides and reviews, asked a panel of LGBT travel writers, editors, and professionals to select the top gay travel destinations worldwide. Montréal, along with Berlin, Buenos Aires, London, Madrid, and New York City, made the final cut.
Lovers of Montréal can vote directly on the TripOut Gay Travel website or via Facebook and Twitter. Voters have until October 18, 2010, to choose Montréal as their favourite Global Destination.
So, why is Montréal the best? When all is said and done, during the same trip, LGBT visitors can dine at restaurants serving an international array of gastronomic treats, experience nightlife in a trendy club or quiet bistro, stay at a bed and breakfast or hotel providing the finest comforts of a second home, discover the beauty of architecture spanning over three centuries, participate in any number of cultural events and festivals occurring year-round, hear French, English, and numerous other languages while traveling safely by foot, metro, or bike to distinct and diverse neighbourhoods, and, last but not least, get married legally in a city filled with open minds and hearts.
