July 3, 2012 – Each year, summertime in Montréal is graced with a party that simply brings out the best in everyone who attends. Friendly, laid-back, creative, and musical, the Divers/Cité festival brings forth a unique brand of joy to midsummer in the city, with everything from concerts to drag queen shows to dance parties, all representing Montréal’s unique openness to the rest of the world. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event, July 30 to August 5, and promises delightful surprises in a new and enchanting locale.
Set as a free outdoor playground on the beautiful Quays of the Old Port of Montréal, Divers/Cité 2012 welcomes, among others, Chus + Ceballos, Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire, Stefie Shock, David Morales, Chocolate Puma, Hector Romero, Ana Paula, and, of course, the great, diverse LGBT and allies communities from across the globe. The festival also greets the return of its internationally renowned signature productions, Mascara (the biggest drag show on earth) and La Grande Danse (the most impressive dance music event in North America) for an unforgettable celebration under the sun, moon, and stars, and surrounded by the St. Lawrence River and Montréal’s magnificent skyline.
Allons-y (or let’s go)! Something extraordinary awaits us at the 20th birthday festivities for Divers/Cité at the Quays of the Old Port of Montréal.
