Hot firework evenings on hot Village terraces!

Published on June 22, 2009 - It’s Saturday night and the Village is happening. The chock-a-block bars, pubs and clubs pulse with excitement. And the fireworks will be popping tonight —literally—because it’s the Montréal International Fireworks Competition. But only insiders know that the best way to enjoy this pyrotechnic and musical extravaganza (a total of ten 30-minute shows take place throughout the summer) is by grabbing a seat on a charming rooftop terrace. Here are our top picks for where to get dazzled by the bright sky—and other beautiful sights—while sipping a cool beverage.

If all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, Complexe Sky has the perfect antidote: a splash in the pool, a little détente in the spa, a drink at the bar or a bite at the charming snack counter. By day, come here to enjoy a beverage of your choice while working on your tan. By night, come here for the even hotter ambiance and fun, and great vistas of the fireworks.

Unity is another one of the Village’s hugely popular nightspots with a rooftop terrace that offers an arresting view of the grand Jacques-Cartier Bridge, where crowds like to cluster on firework evenings, and the fabulous nightsky illuminations.

If you’re a creature of the night, you’ll love Drugstore, a huge bar complex renowned for its multi-level smorgasbord of entertainment. This nightspot, whose legendary 5 à 7 (happy hour) is especially popular with the lesbian crowd, also features a poolroom and your choice of three terraces from which to watch the fireworks explode.
