Published on July 13, 2009 – Ever wondered what life was like in Montréal in the mid-1700s? The Pointe-à-Callière Museum of Archeology and History offers you the chance to immerse yourself in the bustling activity of a traditional public market when you time travel back for a weekend.
Famers, craftspeople and entertainers, all dressed in period costume, will all be at Place d'Youville this coming August 29 and 30. For your taste buds, there’ll be historically authentic treats, such as maple products, buckwheat pancakes, garlic flower, cider, Montréal melon and spruce beer. For your eyes and ears, there’ll be storytellers and musicians, along with two military regiments and a Native encampment.
Kids will love it too because they’ll be able to dress up like their New France counterparts, play games typical of the day and try their hand at embroidery or military drills. Best of all, this history and learning and fun come at no expense!
