If we were a populace of fashionistas, we’d be following the trends. Truth is, we’re just too busy setting the styles to notice.
Let’s face it—Montréal’s just a good-looking city full of flair, unique style and innate fashion sense. Montréalers have “it;” whipping together stunning style that combines elements of original, elegant, used (frip) and trendy just comes naturally.
Fashion-forward isn’t our objective; it’s our way of life. From our apparel to our furniture to our home decor, it’s all about innovation and expression from head to toe to living space.
While home to refined department stores such as Ogilvy’s, Holt Renfrew and Simons, Montréal’s design scene thrives because of its numerous designer boutiques scattered throughout the city. From upscale furniture on Saint-Laurent to eccentric retro on Amherst in the Village, with a whole lot of funky in between, Montréal offers whatever you could possibly need, want, imagine or afford.
If you really want to get the goods on what our designers have in store, check out Montréal’s Fashion and Design Festival in June, where fresh Québécois talent struts its stuff alongside the biggest names in the world of fashion. Or cruise the downtown shops and trendy neighbourhood boutiques for fabulous fashion finds.
We’re collectively proud of our design expertise and constantly look to challenge ourselves. Créativité Montréal is an annual design contest that encourages businesses to push the commercial design envelope to the max, resulting in heightened commercial design and international renown for local designers.
