June 20, 2011 – Now in its sixth year, the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival (July 29 to 31) brings the beat back to the lush environs of Parc Jean-Drapeau this summer with an impressive line-up of international artists and Montréal acts. Eminem, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, The Tragically Hip, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Kid Cudi, Cypress Hill and Sam Roberts are just a few of the marquee names in a star-studded roster of more than 70 bands.
Because two days of music never seem to be enough, the biggest festival of its kind in Canada has added an additional day of outdoor performances and Osheaga in the City (July 27 to 30), which features several in-door concerts in venues around town, makes it into a week-long event. Although the official kick-off isn’t until July 28, the beat drops for a pre-party on July 27 at the Society for Arts and Technology. Those looking to get things started even earlier can head over to the Biosphère for Space Cadet (July 15 and 16), a unique headphone concert experience by hometown hero Kid Koala.
If music is your mission, you won’t want to miss the MEG Montréal Osheaga International (MMOI), which was created to bring together members of the music industry from across the world. Scheduled to coincide with the MEG Montréal and Osheaga Music and Arts Festivals (July 27 to 31), MMOI offers unparalleled networking opportunities, as agents, promoters, managers, labels and other key players are brought together in the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
