Published on August 31, 2009 – It’s the first Friday of month and you’re sans party plans? Well, we’ve got just the thing for you and it’s called The Nocturnes at the MAC (Musée d’art contemporain). That’s right, the first Friday of every month, the MAC hosts a 5 à 9 (think of it as a prolonged, but chic, happy hour), replete with live music, bar service and entry to the museum's exhibitions. Never thought of it, had you?  A night out at a museum? It’s fun and it will help you get your culture quota on the upswing.

This fall, works by Francine Savard, Tacita Dean and Tricia Middleton will be on display in the MAC’s galleries, so you get the chance to scope them out while your ears and eyes are titillated by the sounds and sights of some of the most talented artists from the Montréal music scene. The Nocturnes kicks off with the high-octane show of Xavier Caféïne this September.

The Nocturnes works on a first come, first served, with a capacity of 700. You’re best bet is to show up on time; those who arrive later can still enjoy the show, but via video, though everyone gets the chance of visiting the exhibitions in an exclusive, nocturnal atmosphere.
