February 6, 2014 ─ It’s almost time for Art Souterrain, and for the 2014 edition, this exciting, creative festival invites you to explore the idea of foundations—plant, human, or architectural. The event sheds light on how we are able to adapt and flourish in new environments through relationships with individuals, communities, and territories. And all this takes place in Montréal’s renowned underground city.

Kilometres and kilometres of artworks take over the subterranean network. From the shops at the heart of Central Station to Métro entrances, diversity is key. Works, both local and international, include projections, photography, and large-scale paintings and sculptures.

Looking for an activity to do with kids? The festival invites all primary schools, high schools, daycares, and CEGEPS, as well as community groups and families, to partake in the Discovery Path, a guided one-hour tour, adjusted to age groups, which gives participants an introduction to what art is all about. Tours begin at the Place d’Armes Métro station and run daily from March 3 to 16, at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  They’re free, out of the ordinary, and definitely interesting.

Whether you’re in a group or alone, on a date or with friends, the 2014 Art Souterrain is a must for anyone with even the slightest interest in art. Relax, contemplate, discuss, and feel productive, all at the same time.
