This two-festival-in-one affair runs for six days from Tuesday May 27 until Sunday June 1, and showcases more than 100 Canadian and international artists. For the occasion, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), right at the Quartier des spectacles, has hopped on board to act as the nerve centre and main headquarters for festival activities.

Events and performances are at a variety of venues in the neighbourhood, including the MAC, the Esplanade de la Place des Arts, and Métropolis, as well as the Phi Centre in Old Montréal and Parc Jean-Drapeau, where the Piknic Électronik dance party brings music lovers together on an open-air dance floor with absolutely awesome views of the city and its surroundings.

Among the artists confirmed for the event this year are Nicolas Jaar, Ricardo Villalobos, Audion, Max Cooper, Richie Hawtin, and Ben Frost. At least 47 premieres, 16 world premieres, 13 North American premieres, 18 Canadian premieres, and 85 outdoor and indoor performances of music, video, and much more are on the program for this highly-anticipated spring awakening of sounds and sights.
