November 8, 2013 ─ From December 11 to February 2, the Quartier des spectacles will help you chase the winter blues away with two light installations: Entre les rangs (In the Field) and Trouve Bob (Find Bob). Playful and interactive, these luminescent winter experiences shed light on Montréal’s endless creativity and exuberant joviality, while providing the public with some colourful entertainment.
Entre les rangs
How about walking through a bucolic wheat field… in the heart of Montréal? That’s just what this multisensory installation has in store. This ingenious light installation is made of 20,000 stylized wheat stalks bobbing in the winter wind, creating a fascinating effect on the place des Festivals. As they walk through the “wheat field”, visitors will hear an all-new melody by Montréal artist Patrick Watson, sailing through space thanks to carefully placed speakers. Pure magic!
This video projection transforms the seven downtown building facades of the Quartier des spectacles into a large, dynamic game that simultaneously adds vivid animation and a dash of color to Montréal’s winter. Inspired from Waldo of "Where's Waldo?" fame, playful Bob melts into a fantasy world replete with eclectic characters. The public is invited to find Bob in this vast urban canvas enhanced with various levels of difficulty.
In true Montréal style, Entre les rangs and Trouve Bob offer an exciting and entertaining twist on traditional light therapy. Both installations are open to the public, so go ahead and lighten up in the Quartier des spectacles this winter!
