December 6, 2012 – Montréal has caught the world’s eye for its cuisine, its ambiance, its events, its design creativity and spirit…the list goes on. Not surprisingly, it’s also grabbed the attention of leading international brands, which recognize the city’s panache for fashion and quality and have recently set up shop in the downtown core.
Trailblazing beauty à la française
Sephora brought its visionary beauty-retail concept to Montréal with the June 2012 launch of its new boutique at 677 Sainte-Catherine Street West. Founded in France in 1970 by Dominique Mandonnaud, Montréal’s Sephora location features an impressive selection of classic and emerging brands of skincare, colour, fragrance, body, and haircare, with some 9,000 products from over 200 brands in an interactive shopping environment where personalized service is key. In addition, the boutique features Make-Up and Nail workshops, a Fake Eyelash Bar, a Beauty-to-Go counter, a full-service Beauty Salon and a unique Fragrance Flight Bar where your personality pinpoints your perfect scent.
Iconic style and design
Ah Armani – it was time that you made it downtown! The flagship A/X Armani Exchange storeat 1241 Sainte-Catherine Street West arrived in June- and not a moment too soon! A fashion label for urbanite men and women created by Italian designer, Giorgio Armani, A/X Armani Exchange offers affordable, one-stop shopping for all your wardrobe needs, with a wide range of apparel, accessories, eyewear, watches and, of course, denim. Complete with sleek furnishings and a video wall set to a soundtrack by international DJs, the shopping experience exudes the very essence of the brand: cool cosmopolitan chic underscored by subtle elegance. Sounds a lot like downtown Montréal, doesn’t it?
The DOCtor is in!
Underground fashion made its way up to street level this past September, when the long-time British brand, Dr. Martens walked its way right into the heart of the city’s shopping district to set up its flagship store at 1383 Sainte-Catherine Street West. Nestling comfortably between high fashion sophistication and punk rock rebellion, Doc offers its habitual selection of boots, shoes, accessories and shoe care products (in other words, fabulous leather goods) and edgy fashion, with a pair for everyone.
The evolution of style – Anthropologie
Last but definitely not least, American brand Anthropologie crossed over the border to 2130 de la Montagne Street in mid-October. Modern and ethnic with wisps of bohemia, Anthropologie features an eclectic selection of clothing, accessories, beauty products, home décor and kitchenware for the stylishly quirky. The new Montréal boutique is housed in a magnificent 3-storey greystone with ample space to display items from sparkly toques to chunky knit sweaters to lighting fixtures, including several items from local designers. It carries through on the brand’s lifestyle focus, offering a unique shopping experience that will certainly appeal to Montréal fashionistas.
