March 29, 2010 – As winter’s chill starts to wane, Montréal’s literary scene heats up with the 12th annual Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival. Blue Metropolis is the world’s first multilingual literary festival; last year alone saw over 250 writers, translators, musicians, actors, journalists and publishers from across the world assemble to celebrate the written word. English, French, Spanish…no matter the language or the genre, you’ve got pages of fun in store!
Congratulate the laureate!
The Blue Metropolis International Literary Grand Prix recognizes a lifetime of literary achievement by a writer of international reputation. This annual $10 000 prize is awarded by a jury to a writer of international stature – no matter their nationality, age, or literary discipline – who holds a significant Montréal readership in both French and English; who speaks both languages; and who is willing to participate in the Festival. The 2010 recipient is none other than Haitian-born Montréaler, Dany Lafferière.
Meet the authors!
Guest authors’ books will be available for purchase on the festival site or at the official festival bookshop, the Olivieri Bookstore, where festival authors will sign copies of their books immediately following their respective events.
Join a Master Class!
Led by internationally-recognized writers, these workshops are directed towards professionals and emerging writers.
Bring the family along!
The Blue Metropolis Children’s Festival takes place in scholastic and community venues across the island of Montréal. On the programme: readings, writing workshops, and performances based on books and other materials. Admission to Children’s Festival events is free of charge (with a few exceptions).
Come out and meet the world in Montréal!
