April 16, 2012 – If you dig the digital arts, then Montréal is the place for you this spring! From May 1 to 6, the Elektra Digital Arts Festival’s 13th edition unites sights and sounds across the city for an interdisciplinary, international celebration of the digital arts.

Since 1999, Elektra has presented artists who combine innovative electronic music and creative imagery derived from new technologies (animation, installations and robotics). With a view to being a nexus where the latest in digital technology meets diverse media, such as music, video, cinema, design, gaming, and sound/interactive installations, the festival continues to gain a fan base of digital culture from near and far.

This year’s edition includes the inaugural International Digital Arts Biennial (BIAN), the realization of a plan to create a milestone event highlighting both the dynamism of the local digital arts scene and the prominence that the creative movement has attained internationally. The BIAN will showcase, in particular, the installation and public art aspects of digital creation.

The festival also features the International Marketplace for Digital Arts (IMDA), which gives artists and professionals related to the field the chance to mingle and explore new partnerships.

With a lineup of multidimensional happenings—from immersive shows, electronic music and electroacoustic concerts, A/V performances, and robotic and interactive video installations to a whole lot more—Elektra offers something to satisfy every artistic sensitivity and inquiring mind.
