January 4, 2013 – The Port of Montréal The Port of Montréal is the proud recipient of a trifecta of awards from the prestigious travel magazine Dream World Cruise Destinations Magazine.
The port received the Best Turnaround Port Operations award sharing this distinction with eight other ports worldwide. They were evaluated according to the excellence of their infrastructures and quality of passenger and ship services.
The Port of Montréal also received the Best Turnaround Destination award which recognizes the cruise destinations that offer passengers a superior quality in excellent transfer service to airports and train stations, a broad array of hotels and wide-ranging tourism appeal.
And finally, the Port was recognized as one of the most efficiently managed and operated cruise terminals (Most Efficient Terminal Operator) in terms of customs clearance, security, supplying, baggage handling and all services to ships and passengers.
The Port of Montréal is one of the world’s largest inland ports, a leader among North Atlantic container ports and the first and largest port in eastern Canada. It is situated on the St. Lawrence River, 1,600 kilometres (1,000 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, and offers the shortest and most direct route to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. It is equally the gateway, year-round, to the vast markets of Central Canada and the U.S. Midwest and Northeast.
In addition to being an important trans-shipment centre where various kinds of merchandise is handled, the Port of Montréal it is also a passenger port, welcoming domestic and international cruises during the May to October season.
