May 15, 2013 — With 17 large parks and hundreds of mini-parks and green spaces popping up wherever you look, Montréal is definitely a green city. We even have a one-of-a-kind mountain playground right downtown! And over 120 parks or squares can be found in downtown alone!
A place to play, meet, exercise, relax – Montréal’s parks provide the backdrop to our lives as we picnic with our families, gather with friends, join in community activities, stay in shape or simply get out to enjoy fresh air.
Parks are a dynamic playground whose landscape and activities change with the seasons. Come winter, they offer sledding hills, ski and snowshoe trails, skating rinks and battlegrounds for after-school snowball fights. Come summer, they provide shady trails for jogging, inline skating, cycling or great expanses to blow bubbles or throw a Frisbee.
A city as blue as it is green, island parks also offer great opportunity for fun on the water, such as pedal boats, kayaks and swimming. Montréal parks are alive with music, too. Tam-tams set the summer beat on the mountain and electronic music fills the air in Parc Jean Drapeau. Winter or summer, Montréal parks are abuzz with activity.
