February 28, 2012 – Since 1989, lovers of francophone music from around the world have made the FrancoFolies de Montréal a not-to-be-missed annual event. And the upcoming 24th edition, set to take over the Place des Festivals in the Quartier des spectacles this June 8 to 16, promises to uphold its international reputation with panache once again this year!

With each passing year, this vibrant festival keeps audiophiles on their toes with their ears attuned to innovative programming that harmoniously combines masters of the great French chanson tradition with talented emerging artists, all the while integrating a series of unique musical activities with a good dose of exotic flair.

Even if the official program won’t be announced until the spring, organizers have said just enough to get our musical taste buds watering : Julien Clerc, Hughes Aufray, Jean-Louis Murat, Zaz, Thomas Fersen as well as Cali in concert with pianist Steve Nieve are but a few of the headliners slated to deliver exquisite moments of musical elation!

Over the years, the FrancoFolies has gradually established itself as one of the most dynamic and recognized windows onto the world of francophone music. It’s not surprising, considering a program that includes over 250 shows – three-quarters of which are outdoors and completely free – that bring together some 1 000 artists and close to a million spectators. There’s nothing else like it in North America!

Whether it be in an indoor venue or on one of the outdoor stages, the FrancoFolies showcases the sheer richness of francophone music and its ability to bring people together in celebration. Throw in Montréal joie-de-vivre for added sparkle and you’ve got an event where a little – or a lot!- of goodhearted “folly’ is just part and parcel of the festivities!
