Published on April 28, 2009 - On a hot summer day, is there really anything more satisfying than leisurely sipping a cold one? Well, beer buffs of all stripes and colours, lager lovers and budding aficionados alike, will be pleased to learn that Montréal’s 16th edition of the Mondial de la bière is back from June 3 to 7, 2009 at the elegant Windsor Station with more great thrills for the palate.

In celebration of its sweet 16th, the Mondial will be treating patrons to beers from Japan, Denmark, Italy, Belgium, the United States and Canada, as well as local breweries. And, since one didn’t seem to be enough last year, this year the fest will have two Petit Pubs (Little Pubs) where you can discover great foreign and local labels. Malts and ciders as well as a panoply of savoury and sweet treats will also be available to accompany your glass.

For a fourth year, the Fest will be hosting an epicurean evening, with Japan the honoured guest this year. The menu will feature fine cheeses and appetizers, accompanied by a variety of excellent beers, ciders and sake from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Montréal’s popular microbreweries, such as Benelux, Brutopia, Broue Pub Brouhaha and many others will be present as well as fine microbreweries from across the province. Music, brewer contests and conferences by some of the most respected names in the business will also be part of the line-up. Other highlights include the chance to get your beerologist certification, offered in conjunction with the École de Biérologie MBière and expert teachers.

Another fine Montréal festival—we’ll definitely toast to that!
