Published on March 31, 2009 - What’s in a name? Well, let’s break it down and see. According to their site the “MU” refers to “mutation”. And the “TEK”? Well, we don’t think we’re going out on a limb when we say “technology”, since the festival’s whole raison d’être is to promote the dissemination and development of digital creativity in music, art and sound. But that’s just the name. The people are what makes it tick.

MUTEKers are a motley bunch, made up of artists, professionals and members of the general public who are pretty passionate about exploring the visual and auditory realm. And while this one-of-a-kind fest started out with mostly home-grown talent, over the past decade its popularity has grown exponentially, and it now attracts talent from around the world.

This energetic, idiosyncratic event is an experimental breeding ground filled with new ideas, new images, new artistic combinations and new sonic spaces. It’s a cutting-edge electronic music scene you won’t want to miss, with guests like MODERAT, dOP, Dandy Jack, Wolfgang Voigt, Nortec Collective and more in town to celebrate its 10th anniversary from May 27th to May 31st.
