September 6, 2010 – Eating locally in Montréal is a treat in itself, with an incredible variety of delicious produce available almost year-round, from farm-fresh vegetables and fruit to free-range meat and poultry to hand-tapped maple syrup and so on. Throw in the organic element, and you’ve got the delicious fare offered by a select group of socially-conscious Old Montréal restaurants, whose raison d’être is none other than to provide delicious, healthy and sustainable meal solutions while raising the culinary bar for taste and creativity.

Chef Derek Dammann works his own brand of culinary magic at DNA Restaurant, with his accomplice, Alex Cruz, sommelier par excellence right by his side to provide the perfect pairing – not an easy task, when the wine cellar boasts over 300 international selections, including the most diverse Canadian wine offering in the country! DNA’s menu features Mediterranean-inspired dishes including house-cured charcuterie, regional pastas, local meats and seafood, all lovingly prepared with a commitment to sustainably grown and harvested produce.

The dynamic menu at Restaurant Toqué! is always a fresh surprise: supper fare depends upon what local produce has come in that very day! Chef Laprise works in conjunction with many small producers who deliver their produce straight from the field to the restaurant, ensuring a holistic and sustainable approach to your gastronomic experience. At Toqué!, dining responsibly has never been so elegant!

A wee gem in the midst of Old Montréal, the Marché du Vieux features a boutique du terroir – in other words, a treasure trove of local products including smoked meat, Québec cheese, foie gras, ice cream, bagels, etc. – and a bistro-café that serves traditional and regional fare.
