November 18, 2011 – Until January 3, 2012, the Musée d’art contemporain (MAC) presents the second edition The Québec Triennial, an exhibition devoted to Québec contemporary art. The largest of its kind, the MAC views this exhibition as an ideal opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the artistic community, to showcase the vitality of modern Québec talent and to provide new perspectives vis-à-vis contemporary art.

This is the first time that the MAC has mounted an exhibition of this scope; it overflows from the eight museum halls onto indoor public spaces and beyond the museum doors to the place des Festivals in the Quartier des spectacles and the l’Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme in Place des Arts.

Featuring primarily emerging Québec artists, this entire exhibition has been conceived to spark reflection; to encourage visitors to step off the beaten track and venture into unchartered territory. In addition, a series of live Wednesday-night performances in the Beverly Webster Rolph Hall runs until November 30, 2011.

Furthermore, the MAC has produced a heavily-illustrated, 500-page guide to serve as a comprehensive reference to Québec contemporary art, complete with an overview of modern artistic processes and ensuing critical discourse.
