Montréal, August 31, 2009 – Tourisme Montréal is proud to announce that the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has chosen Montréal to host its Leadership Conference from June 13 to 15, 2010. Over the course of this prestigious three-day event, hundreds of meeting and event professionals will gather in Montréal to take part in a range of networking, workshops and seminars at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. The PCMA Leadership Conference caters to both members who are heavily engaged in PCMA including the PCMA Board of Directors and volunteers, and also draws leadership level members attracted by the high-level education and cutting edge information for which PCMA is known.
Montréal was selected as a destination for the many positive attributes the city has for a PCMA Leadership Conference,” says Brad Lewis, Vice President, Marketing and Communications of PCMA. “The destination allows PCMA to continue to build and serve our Canadian membership, it’s in close proximity to large portions of our member base and has good airlift. The city’s compact and walkable city centre also weighed in Montréal’s favour since it is not only convenient for attendees but responds to PCMA’s ongoing greening efforts when organizing its conferences,” adds Mr. Lewis.
“We are thrilled that PCMA has selected Montréal for this prestigious conference. This important annual gathering of seasoned association professionals gives us the opportunity to showcase both our city’s renowned excitement, charm and hospitality as well as its savoir-faire in meeting and event organization,” says Charles Lapointe, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “The conference is also expected to generate approximately $1.6 million in economic spin-offs, which is excellent news for Montréal’s convention industry stakeholders,” concludes Mr. Lapointe.
