May 7, 2013 – Since 1989, lovers of francophone music from around the world have made the FrancoFolies de Montréal a not-to-be-missed annual event. And the upcoming silver 25th anniversary edition, set to take over the Place des Festivals in the Quartier des spectacles this June 13 to 22, promises to uphold its international reputation with panache once again this year!

With each passing year, this vibrant festival keeps audiophiles on their toes with their ears attuned to innovative programming. Here, masters of the great French chanson tradition harmoniously combine with talented emerging artists, all the while integrating a series of unique musical activities with a good dose of exotic flair.

The outdoor program is yet to be announced, however the city’s indoor venues will host headlining favourites the likes of Cœur de pirate, Karim Ouellet, Nicola Ciccone and Robert Charlebois, who will be joined by guests Ingrid St-Pierre, Dumas, Les Trois Accords, Ariane Moffat and Louise Forestier as he celebrates 50 years of song. There’s also Ne me quitte pas, a tribute to Jacques Brel by a superstar cast including Isabelle Boulay and Marc Hervieux that will surely be a performance to remember!

Over the years, the FrancoFolies has gradually established itself as one of the most dynamic and recognized windows onto the world of francophone music. It’s not surprising, considering a program that includes over 250 shows – three-quarters of which are outdoors and completely free – that bring together some 1,000 artists and close to a million spectators. There’s nothing else like it in North America!
