The Palais des congrès (Convention Centre)
Our downtown Palais des congrès de Montréal (Convention Centre) is anything but conventional. It’s a state-of-the-art building that’s centrally located (straddling the Quartier international business centre, Old Montréal, Chinatown and the new Quartier des spectacles entertainment district), and within walking distance of 15,000 hotel rooms, 4,000 of which are directly linked to the Palais via brightly-lit indoor passageways.

The numbers speak for themselves: the Palais has a total rental space of 551,520 sq. ft. (51 280 m2), including 113 meeting rooms and venues and 3 terraces. Thanks to multipurpose spaces and rooms, more than 498,874 sq. ft. (46 347 m2) of exhibition space can now accommodate over 1,800 booths. It’s a facility that provides for an easy flow of delegates, great visibility for exhibitors and handy logistics for staff.
Inside, the Palais is thoroughly modern, generously lit, and welcoming, plus its functionality makes it able to handle events of every size. Since opening in 1983, and hosting 4,300 events and 12.6 million visitors, it has built a reputation for excellence spanning the globe.
Plenty of green, but no red tape
The Palais has adopted practices an array of green practices, from water use to recycling and heating to housekeeping products that have earned it numerous environmental awards and honours. The Palais is also considered “in bond” by Canada Customs and acts as a customs clearance point, making red tape a thing of the past.
A wide range of hotels
Montréal hotel choices run the gamut of American and international chains to gem-like boutique properties. Out of a 26,500 room total, 15,000 are downtown, 8,000 are in deluxe properties, while 4,000 connect directly with the Convention Centre via the weather-protected, brightly-lit walkways of the Underground Pedestrian Network (RESO).
