December 12, 2014 It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The snow is making us cozy, the holidays are making us generous, and the typical holiday snacks are making us hungry. With unique outdoor activities to artisan shopping fairs, Montréal knows how to make the most out of the winter holiday season. Check out the very merry activities happening in Old Montréal from December 13, 2014, to January 3, 2015, for Merry Montréal!

Outdoor Holiday Cinema
Imagine this: You’re sitting outside in Old Montréal, tucked into a large warm blanket sipping hot chocolate next to your friends and family, while watching a classic holiday movie. Sounds magical right? Make it a reality on five dates this season at Place d’Youville. The movie starts at 5 p.m.

Celebrity Christmas Tales (December 21)
A family-friendly activity brings artists together to read classic Christmas tales. Readings start at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The storytelling will be in French, so if you don’t speak any, it’ll be a great time to start learning!

Giant Turtle Chocolate Boxes
Yes, you read that correctly. Giant Turtle Chocolate Boxes. Hunt around Old Montréal for giant gift boxes that are large enough to warm up in, and snack on chocolate turtles! This is just one of the reasons why in Montréal, winter totally trumps summer.

The 24h Comfort Team
Need a little holiday pick-me-up? Just find one of the Comfort Teams that will be roaming around Old Montréal handing out coffee and hot chocolate.

Say Hey to Santa and wish everyone a happy holiday
Find the special holiday megaphone in Old Montréal to wish everyone a very heartfelt (and very loud) happy holiday! Also find Santa’s giant candy cane in Place d’Armes to have a real live conversation with him! Who knows, you might even get a special gift!

The New Year’s Eve party in Old Montréal
The only place to see and be seen on New Year’s Eve is at Merry Montréal’s free party in Old Montréal. The festivities start at 7 p.m., but really get underway around 10:30 p.m., when Alex Nevsky, Bernard Adamus, and Les Soeurs Boulay start spinning at the DJ booth. Approaching midnight will be the TELUS Fire on Ice countdown to 2015. The party will continue until 2 a.m. with more DJs and the Coca-Cola “Brigade du Bonheur”.

Enjoy the holidays and share your experiences using the #MerryMontreal hashtag!
