The 22nd edition of the FrancoFolies rolls out its programme tonight

Montréal, June 11, 2010 – The 22nd edition of the FrancoFolies kicks off nine fabulous days of entertainment, music and merriment in Montréal tonight. Thousands of festival-goers are expected to come for the irresistible atmosphere that infuses the city during this fabulous celebration of the French-speaking world’s musical talents.

The 2010 edition of the FrancoFolies is taking place a few weeks sooner than in previous years so as to attract even more international artists and visitors. Furthermore, it promises to be even wilder this year, with a record number of European entertainers taking to the stage in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles.

“It is always with immense pleasure that Tourisme Montréal supports, year after year, this wonderful event that not only brings the world together in Montréal, but also incarnates Montrealers’ passion for music, the language of Molière and the pleasure of hosting and sharing our culture,” underlines the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “And we are convinced that the new timing of this must-see event in our festival calendar will increase attendance, which is excellent news for our entire tourism industry,” concludes Charles Lapointe.

Diane Dufresne – slated to perform a free outdoor concert tonight on the main stage at the Place des Festivals –, Yann Perreau, Emmanuelle Seigner, Plume Latraverse, Robert Charlebois, Ariane Moffat, Angélique Kidjo and even La Compagnie Créole, just to name a few of the big names, will be joined by up-and-coming future headliners at the FrancoFolies de Montréal.
