Montréal, June 8, 2010 – The Just For Laughs Festival will make itself at home in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles next July for its 28th edition. As of July 2, the Festival will announce its programme of indoor shows, including the popular galas hosted by the greatest names in comedy that pack the house tirelessly for three weeks of laughter every year.
Beginning on July 17, the “Urban Arts” section of the festival takes over the streets, transformed into a gigantic funfair especially for the occasion. Fashion shows, farcical feats by street performers and comedy shows will once again fill the bill of the street performance program of the festival that becomes more popular with each passing edition.
“It isn’t a coincidence that the Just For Laughs Festival started here: after all, Montréal is undeniably the capital of humour and joie-de-vivre,” says the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “A city that is as thrilling as it is fascinating, as welcoming as it is open to the world, Montréal has established itself over the years as a top-notch destination for laughter and good times. It is thus with great pride that, as for the last 28 years, Tourisme Montréal supports this world-class comedy event that so aptly reflects the inherent good-natured and fun-loving character typical of Montrealers,” concludes Charles Lapointe.
Clowns, jokers, jesters, comedians and entertainers of all kinds will congregate in Montréal once again for this one-of-a-kind event. And since laughter is universal, local and international artists alike will band together en masse to entertain and amuse happy festival-goers.
