Dralion at the Bell Centre

November 18, 2011 – The arena version of Dralion has returned to Montréal! A hybrid creation by Cirque du Soleil, Dralion draws upon both the East – the dragon – and the West – the lion – for inspiration; the four natural elements take on human form and come to life in a display of stunning colour and breathtaking circus performances.

In Dralion, we follow the adventures of the Little Buddha, the chosen child, who is torn between his dream of being a regular child and his destiny of becoming an Âme-Force. Through his encounters with the goddesses Azala (Air), Gaya (Earth), Océane (Water), and Yao, the god of Fire, he is exposed to immortality, human warmth, the vitality of life, good and evil. Little by little, he finds his path.

Naturally, his journey into the marvellous universe of Dralion is marked by spectacular adventures, fabulous exploits, moving acrobatics and a host of other gripping experiences. Along the way, the Little Buddha is bothered by the unexpected buffoonery of clowns who, just as he thinks he has found peace, sow the seeds of doubt in him. Luckily, the enchanting voices of Âme-Force and the internal power of Kala, who respectively personify harmony between the elements and the circle of life, appear from time to time to show him the way.

In an impressive showcase of magical innovation, Dralion fuses Chinese acrobatic tradition with Cirque du Soleil’s modern, multidisciplinary approach. In this fantastic world, cultures blend, Man and Nature are one, and balance is achieved during a spell-binding performance of circus artistry that leaves us with a brilliant reminder of life’s splendour.
