Published on August 31, 2009 – There are people out there, watching the world we live in. And then letting us in on what they see and think through film. The people at the Festival du nouveau cinéma are onto these artists, whether emerging or seasoned and, for a 38th year, from October 7 to 18, offer filmgoers the chance to track new trends in cinema and new media, particularly in independent film and digital creation.

Year after year, this sought-out film fest offers audiences a diverse programming that prides itself on its commitment to excellence, originality and innovation. People from around the world come here to sample the latest in high-tech, the cutting-edge of creativity, and a city that is passionate about film.

It’s been the launch pad for some of film’s greatest names; Wim Wenders, Peter Greenaway, Atom Egoyan and many other great talents included. It gives people the chance to meet with professionals, through master classes and conferences. And with 200 new screenings offered in state-of-the-art surroundings city-wide, the chance to purchase booklets of tickets or a festival passport, it’s a cinephile’s dream come true.
