September 13, 2010 – image+nation, Canada’s longest-running Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) film festival, is always sure to shock, surprise and delight movie-goers with striking images that aren’t often shown on the big screen. This international festival has united film-lovers and filmmakers of all walks of life for over 20 years, with each season’s programme featuring the most audacious and provocative gay films of the year.
Presenting fiction to activist documentaries to short films, image+nation opens a window to the independent film scene both here and abroad, offering as many screenings as perspectives on the world of cinema rarely seen by the general public.
And just to give you a little taste of what’s in store this year, keep your eyes peeled for the film Contracorriente or Undertow (Peru, Colombia, France, Germany), winner of the 2010 Audience Award at Sundance and the Sebastiane Award at the 2009 San Sebastien Film Festival in Spain, as well as the Italian flick, Viola di Mare (Sea Purple) from acclaimed director Donatella Maiorca. And, of course, image+nation always promotes the fresh, new talent of up-and-coming directors. Long live diversity!
This year’s edition runs from October 28 to November 7, 2010.
