A Tribute to Tiffany Glass

Published on November 30, 2009 – Rich, luminescent, and cleverly colourful, glass magically comes to life under the artful hand and audacious creativity of Louis C. Tiffany, the renowned master of art nouveau glass design who revolutionized glassmaking. His creations, from vases to stained glass windows to his signature Tiffany lamps, are a veritable study in colour, light and innovation.  On display from February to May 2010 in the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavillion at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), this exhibition highlights Tiffany's outstanding contribution to design and the technology of glass.

Not only is this exhibition a Canadian first, but it also appropriately marks the launch of Montréal, City of Glass 2010.  From February to December, over 23 of Montréal’s museums and galleries will offer an exceptional programme than encompasses all aspects of this vitreous art form; a wide range of activities including exhibitions, workshops, performances, a fashion show that integrates glass into Québécois design as well as a professional convention (May 26- 30, 2010) will present glass in its myriad forms and uses.
