MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE - International Circus Arts Festival

April 30, 2012 – Propelled by the success of its first two editions, MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE, the International Circus Arts Festival, is putting the final touches on its third instalment, which will take place from July 5 to 15, 2012. Orchestrated once again by TOHU, the event will bring together acrobats, clowns, jugglers and other performers from all four corners of the globe.

Although the complete performance schedule will not be announced until May 8, excitement surrounding this year's festival is already building in anticipation of performances by the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 Doigts de la Main and Circle of Eleven, which promise to dazzle, amuse and entertain circus enthusiasts of all kinds.

Having debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2011, where it received three awards, the much-anticipated LEO will make its Montreal premiere.  Staged by Québec director Daniel Brière and performed by Circle of Eleven, LEO brilliantly incorporates video projections to create a mind-boggling effect that forces us to doubt our perceptions of physical reality--is the acrobat really performing on the wall? This year's festival also includes Sequence 8, the latest creation by Les 7 Doigts de la Main, a group known for a theatrical form of circus art that ties the physical exploits of the performers to the emotional experiences of the characters.  An acrobatic piece incorporating dance and theatre, Sequence 8 focuses on the division between self and "Other," and the processes of inclusion and exclusion that are at work in the development of our own self-concept.

As in years past, MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE will include a range of productions from the best in the world of circus arts. Staged at various indoor and outdoor sites across the city, the festival promises to give circus lovers a variety of original, uplifting performances that stimulate the mind and dazzle the imagination.
