May 31, 2010 – Who says that choral music is only for religious ceremonies? Certainly not DJ Poirier, because he’ll be at the 6th edition of the Loto-Québec World Choral Festival in the company of pop, rock and hip-hop artists who have little in common with the traditional “alter boy” image… except for perhaps their talent!
From the British progressive rock band YES to Canadian hip-hop phenomenon K-OS to Estonian composter Arvo Pärt, Martha Wainright – in the only Québec performance of her new show dedicated to Édith Piaf – Marc Hervieux and les Cowboys Fringants, the event, orchestrated by none other than Gregory Charles, is sure to appeal to all tastes. In addition the well-known headliners, thousands of choir singers and musicians, plus clowns and circus performers, will participate in this grandiose celebration whose outdoor component will take place this year at Espace Montmorency.
The indoor lineup promises to be just as exciting with hundreds of concerts showcasing the talents of choirs from all over the world in the most stunning churches (this is a choral festival, after all!) and in Laval’s foremost performance halls.
An event not to be missed for all music lovers, this upcoming June 17 to 27, 2010.
