October 18, 2010 – Ever wanted to be a paparazzo? What would you say if Montréal were the star and ready to pose for your camera? Whether you’re a Montrealer for a day or a Montrealer forever, the Centre d’histoire de Montréal, in partnership with Tourisme Montréal, invites you to enter the Montréal à l'œil photography contest. “A postcard from Montréal” is the theme of this year’s contest, which runs from May 31 to November 7. Developed by the Centre d’histoire de Montréal, a social and urban museum whose mission is to promote the city’s history and diversity, Montréal à l'œil is open to amateur and professional photographers from both near and far.

To get their picture perfect, participants must put themselves in the shoes of a tourist and snap a “postcard image” which best reflects the spirit of the city. The contest winner will receive a photography contract from Tourisme Montréal worth $2,000.

Playful or intellectual, secret or mysterious, Montréal has a million qualities (and, naturally, imperfections) that make it endearingly unique. Will you find the perfect moment—at the crack of dawn, during the hustle and bustle of the day or in the thick of the night—to sneak up on Montréal and immortalize its personality in a picture? It’s up to you to unveil the quintessential beauty of our city. You’re Montréal’s official stylist, photography and artistic director all in one… so good luck and get clicking!
