One of fashion’s greatest icons has just left us, but his name will live on in the fashion world forever.
On May 29, the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco—in partnership with the Fondation Pierre Bergé–Yves Saint Laurent—unveiled Yves Saint Laurent, a premier exhibition and tribute to the talent of the illustrious French designer. Fashionistas from far and wide will be flocking to this unique retrospective, which spans 40 years of stunning works from the master designer’s house of haute couture. The extensive collection includes 145 accessorized creations, drawing and videos, a thrilling display which reflects the virtuoso’s unbridled talent and varied sources of inspiration, from art to pop culture to social revolution.
Yves Saint Laurent’s name is synonymous with impeccable style, and with making the haute-couture tradition accessible to the modern woman. He was creative, innovative, passionate and unafraid to push artistic boundaries in his pursuit of artistic excellence. And it’s only fitting that a city like Montréal be the first to offer the world this ground-breaking fashion experience.
Merci et adieu, Monsieur Saint Laurent.
