A trip up the St. Lawrence leads to that famous Montréal joie de vivre!

The Port of Montréal is fully equipped to receive and service major cruise ships, and is one of the main attractions for cruise ships along the St. Lawrence River and the North American East Coast. Thousands of visitors a year arrive at the Iberville Passenger Terminal right in the heart of Montréal’s Old Port, which is clearly right in the middle of all the fun. It’s perfect for a visit ranging from just a few hours to a few days.

A favourite meeting place of Montrealers, this waterfront park with its piers is very much alive with all kinds of recreation, with space enough for strolling, cycling and in-line skating, as well as places for boating. Other points of interest are the cutting-edge Montréal Science Centre, which includes an IMAX®TELUS theatre.

Lining the port is rue de la Commune with its 19th-century greystone buildings. This is the edge of enchanting Old Montréal, a trip to Old Europe–without crossing the Atlantic! Within a short walking distance from the pier, it’s the perfect place for an afternoon stroll along its ancient cobblestone streets. Of note are the grand and beautiful Notre-Dame Basilica, Place Jacques-Cartier, Pointe-à-Callière archeology museum and Marché Bonsecours. In every square and alley are impromptu goings-on, such as painters and their outdoor galleries, jugglers, magic acts and musicians. That famous Montréal joie de vivre carries on well into the night, in a city providing safe passage to everyone.

For passengers who would like to spend the night in Montréal before or after their cruise, the city offers fine restaurants, boutique hotels, elegant boutiques, museums, well-preserved historical buildings, festivals, numerous theatres and a vibrant nightlife scene. Downtown Montréal is within walking distance from Old Montréal.
