May 31, 2010 –Montréal is an adventure in itself, but if you get the itch to expand your sights, there are a number of day trips available by land and by sea. Here are three ways to pack a day full of fun:
Lift anchor and sail away with Croisières AML Cruises! Their one-day Whale Bus Express Package includes transportation to and from Rivière-du-Loup by deluxe coach as well as a 3.5‑hour guided tour aboard the Cavalier des Mers where you will explore the Saguenay‑St. Lawrence Marine Park, an ideal spot to view whales, seals and belugas. Tours depart every Saturday morning from Dorchester Square during the summer, so rise and shine for a whale of a time!

How about something a little more “hands-on” – like petting a shark? The Granby Zoo, located approximately one hour south of Montréal, offers exponential family fun: it’s a zoo, water park and amusement park all rolled into one! Journey around the world, visiting over 1 000 animals representing some 270 species in their native habitats as you go. Pet sharks or feed lorikeet parrots during one of the many interactive activities. Make a splash at the Amazoo Yoplait Water Park – 45 000 m2 (12 acres) of refreshing fun complete with sand beach and heated wave pool – then dry off at the amusement park. With so much to do, you may want to reserve two days just to get it all in!

Travel back in time at the Fort Chambly National Historic Site of Canada, located approximately 30 minutes from Montréal at the foot of the Chambly rapids. Built in 1711, this stone fortification has witnessed the colourful military history of New France and now showcases its key moments. Their summer Sunday programme in particular highlights New France from every angle, from trade presentations, period dress to military exercises.
