May 14, 2014 — It’s hard to believe five years have already passed since MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE (MONTRÉAL CiRQUE FESTIVAL), the TOHU’s international festival of circus arts, made its debut. To celebrate its fifth birthday, you are invited to celebrate, from July 2 to 13, 2014, the circus across disciplines and offerings that are appropriate for the entire family.
A traditional parade opens the festivities on July 2 at 6:30 p.m. on Saint-Denis Street, your chance to play amidst an atmosphere filled with colour and excitement. As for indoor shows, Intersection, a coproduction by Les 7 doigts de la main and the TOHU, gets things started at the TOHU. Other troupes confirmed for the festivities include: Midnight Circus, from the United States; the Cirque du soleil (of course!) and La Ligue d’Impro Cirque, from Canada; Production Le Monfort and Compagnie Lapsus from France; and Gravity & Other Myths from Australia. These are just of few of the circus world’s favourite acts than can be experienced first-hand at numerous venues, not to mention all the free street-level circus performances and workshops gracing the Quartier des spectacles, its surroundings, and other neighbourhoods of the city.
Indoors, outdoors, and across the metropolis, MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE is a hula hoop of a happening sure to ring you in with the joy of entertainment and the magic of the circus.
