MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, Frédérique Ménard-Aubin - MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE

November 12, 2013 — The upcoming MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival celebrates its 15th edition with a program that promises to shine upon the city through a lineup of some of the world’s most brilliant stars in music, gastronomy, and the visual and performing arts. The festival transforms the Quartier des spectacles and its Place des Festivals—the heart of downtown—into a welcoming destination suitable for all! The Free Outdoor Site bursts with open-air activities: braziers, shows, events for children, all showcasing Montréal’s renowned celebratory spirit and flair for entertainment.

For their first visit to the festival, Canadian country rock favourites Blue Rodeo perform at Place des Arts on March 2, premiering their highly anticipated album, In Our Nature, the band’s 14th studio achievement in their 25-year-old career. An added bonus—each person who buys a pair of tickets to the show receives a free copy of the new CD.

If opera lights your inner spark, Gino Quilico graces the Gésu – Centre de créativité with his presence. Since the mid-1980s, this renowned Québec baritone has toured prestigious global stages, worked with distinguished conductors, issued some 20 acclaimed albums, and earned a Grammy Award. Quilico performs for two evenings at the intimate venue with a program featuring his latest album, Serata d'amore, a collection of Italian love songs.

Meanwhile, for foodies, MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE pairs the finest Montréal chefs with the greatest culinary masters from five continents, with a gastronomy and wine program that shouldn’t missed. Renowned chefs, wine producers, and speakers will be in attendance to help you further appreciate the art of dining.

Every year, the festival closes with the “Nuit Blanche” (all-nighter), which invites you to enjoy some 180 activities (mainly free), all linked by a free shuttle service. With music, installations, exhibitions, and dance, the city lights up with a full spectrum of discovery.

For nearly 15 years, MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE has been committed to thumbing its nose at cold weather by inviting artists and spectators alike to come together and create that special warmth that glides along with the song of a wintery fairyland!
