January 3, 2011 – Do you get cold feet when it comes to outdoor ice skating? Hesitate no longer! Just dig out your skates and head down to Atrium Le 1000 on De la Gauchetière Street West in downtown Montréal for a few figure eights – in any weather, at any time of year! No skates? No problem: sharpening and equipment rental is available on-site, helmets to protect the ol’ noggin included.
This lively – and lovely – indoor ice rink is open year-round for skaters of all abilities. Flooded by natural light thanks to the immense glass dome overhead, the Atrium rink is a charming and cozy ice surface where tiny tots toddle, lovers glide arm-in-arm and skating enthusiasts twirl to their heart’s content to a lively soundtrack. And when it comes time to take a break, the restaurants that surround the rink provide an ideal spot to recharge your batteries.
While always a fun family outing, Atrium Le 1000 keeps the good times rolling with special activities throughout the year, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, spring break and the Montréal All-Nighter, the MONTRÉAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival city-wide, all-night party. You can even rent the rink for a special event of your own!
Weekend mornings at Atrium Le 1000 are reserved for the little ones (12 years and under) and their parents, while Tuesday evenings are Girls’ Night Out with two‑for‑one admission. Boys get their turn on Wednesday evenings. There are also group, student and family rates available.
If you aren’t sure on your blades, don’t let that deter you from getting out there and carving it up! Lessons are available for both children and adults and will have you racing around the rink in no time.
So lace up your skates and enjoy the warmth of Atrium Le 1000!
