Published on May 4, 2009 – From quays to café terrasses, life in the Old Port bubbles merrily along, brightening the faces of passersby, merchants and streetside performers. It meanders and courses along cobblestone roads, right down to the Montréal Science Centre, which showcases a refreshing tribute to water this summer.
The world premiere of AQUA, a stimulating exhibition dedicated entirely to water, happens right here in Montréal this May 15. Created by Guy Laliberté, the celebrated founder of the Cirque du Soleil, the project is a powerful reminder of the importance of this vital resource for all of humanity.
It’s a multisensory experience, composed of 360° projections, stunning visual effects and spectacular water installations—some 1,200 recycled litres per performance—that plunge audiences into world of water. The 30-minute journey takes visitors into three distinct spaces in which they are both actor and spectator as they learn about the fascinating history of H2O.
While you’re there, why not buff up your scientific knowledge with a visit to the Science Centre’s four interactive exhibitions? They’re open to big and small and offer an exciting and playful foray into often little-known universes.
